Volunteers

Cheryl B.

One foster, and that’s all it took.  I was hooked on Rescue for life.

I accidentally stumbled onto Petfinder.com when my beloved Lhasa, Chamois, passed away. Even though I couldn’t replace Chamois, I knew I had to have another dog immediately.

Samantha

My name is Samantha, and my reasons for volunteering and fostering is a strong love and desire for animals. It is something I got from my parents. I grew up in a cat lover’s house. I have one true brother. His name was Bear, a Maine coon cat, and the biggest fluffy ball, and the greatest brother a girl could have. He still beat up on me, picked on me like brothers do. The only difference was he was a cat.

Rita

I grew up in rural Ohio in a family of animal lovers.   My brothers and I would take care of all stray creatures, great and small, that would find their way to our yard.  Many fur and feathered creatures have come and gone, all taking my heart with them and leaving a void that sends me on to help another helpless friend.    After retiring, spouse Don and I joined many others in working in a rescue group.  Other charities have been rewarding, but nothing has compared to helping a matted, sad,

Ray and Betty

Hi. We are Ray and Betty. The little girl Betty is holding is Charlee, aka Charlize Theron. Charlee was a DFWT&M foster that we fell in love with and adopted ourselves. We adopted our first TZU about 5 years ago. Betty and I have fostered many since then.

Margaret H.

My name is Margaret, and I have been in dog rescue for 2 years. I’ve always had a passion for dogs, but I have just recognized my passion for rescue. I have been with DFW Tzus and More Rescue since it began, and have been a member of Legacy Boxer Rescue (LBR) for 2 years.

I have always had a tender place in my heart for animals, especially dogs. In fact, my first word as a child was “dogga”. When I was born my parents were also proud dog parents of a female Collie named Saddie and male collie named Sam. One of my favorite things to do was look out the window at my dogs. I still have vivid memories of the times I spent with my dogs even though it was at a very young age.

I have always loved animals and children.  I wanted to be a vet until the 8th grade when I realized just how much schooling that would take so I switched career paths to teaching.  In December of 2006,  I adopted Molly from a shih tzu organization.  I vowed at that point that I would one day also attempt to foster for a rescue group.  I say attempt because I know I'll fall in love with all of them!  I have su

My love of dogs began at a very early age and I have always had at least one dog in my life. Currently, I own four – Joey and Spike, Chihuahuas; Hannah a Yorkie-Poo; and Princess a Shih Tzu. And then there’s Toby a 22 lb cat who is just part of the pack.

Cheryl T.

My name is Cheryl, and I am a member of the “GTV.” I am caretaker of four “humans” so they say, and caretaker of “five” four legged bundles of fur. Why? There is a need inside me to protect those that need protection and give back something of myself to those that cannot find their way. If their way ends up in a sparse cage or inhumane and unlivable surrounding, then I feel the need to take the fright out of their path and fill that feeling with a feeling of safety and security. My decision to help the furbabies was the most rewarding and life changing decision I have ever made, and I look forward to many more years with this fabulous group.

Diane and TimTim the cute Shih Tzu

A very cute Shih Tzu rescue named Tim McGraw drew me into rescue work.  Although I've always adopted from rescue groups, it wasn't until I met and adopted Timmy that I wanted to be a part of the process.  It is so satisfying to see all the pups we get become more beautiful every week and change for the better as time goes by.  But there's nothing as rewarding as seeing a rescue find his or her forever home.  Thank you, Timmy, for the great experience of rescue.
