DFWTAMR Mourns One of Our Own

We lost a volunteer, a foster Dad, and a good friend on Wednesday. Don Yant was all of those things and more to our group. He was a quiet man who loved dogs, especially Shih Tzu, and was willing to work with some of our more difficult dogs and turn them around. He adopted two of them, and found great homes for the rest. He was a perfect example of a person who truly loved dogs. One of our volunteers said he would always carry with him the mental image of Don sitting in a folding chair at a Petsmart adoption event with one or more of his special Shih Tzu either at his feet or with one sitting in his lap with huge brown eyes focused on their great savior and protector.  That is how many of us will remember Don, in addition to his sense of humor, kindness, and generosity to others.  Each time there was a need for donations for one of our causes, not only was  Don one of the first to heed the call, but he would round up some of his friends to help out too.  Our hearts and deepest sympathy go out to the Yant family.
