Enjoy a Great Dinner and Help DFW Shih Tzu Rescue
Submitted by cbarekman on Sat, 02/27/2010 - 08:33Hold the date! Wednesday, March 24. We are having another of our annual fundraiser dinners at our favorite restaurant, Cantina Laredo in Grapevine. This is how it works and it's very simple: If we can recruit 100 people or more to have dinner at Cantina any time on the evening of Wednesday, March 24, the nice folks at Cantina Laredo will donate 10% of the evenings proceeds to DFWTAMR. What could be easier than having a great dinner, maybe even a world class Margarita or two, with family, friends, or co-workers, visiting with other Tzu pals, and raising much needed funds for homeless dogs at the same time. Mark your calendars now, and we'll continue to remind you. You won't want to miss the paw-ty!
Those Magic Words: A Dog That Needs Me!
Submitted by cbarekman on Sun, 02/14/2010 - 01:31As volunteers, we just LOVE hearing a potential adopter use certain phrases such as: "I just want to adopt a dog that needs me," OR "We would like the dog that you think is right for our family," OR "Please help us choose the dog that is the best fit for us." Sure, everyone has their preferences as far as color, sex, size, age, but the personality and needs of the dog are so much more important in determining whether a dog is a good match. At the very least, our Rescue dogs have often already been bounced around between their first home, the streets, an animal shelter, a vet clinic, a foster home and possibly even a second foster home. Who knows how many homes they were in before ending up in the shelter.
WUF....a Luxury Pet Resort and Spa in Irving
Submitted by cbarekman on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 22:45Hey, Tzu lovers in Dallas or Mid-Cities, I recently checked out WUF, a plush and really cool pet resort with boarding, spa and grooming, day care, in house portrait studio, and even a shuttle bus. It has all levels of boarding from large kennels and runs, to suites with doggie sized furniture and flat screened T.V.s. There is a pent house for those pampered pooches who expect nothing but the BEST. (Can I go and leave my dogs at home?)You will find supervised play areas divided according to the size of the dogs.
Senior Lhasa Apso Brett Favre Needs a Home of His Own
Submitted by cbarekman on Sun, 01/17/2010 - 00:45
This sweet boy is a little over 8 years young. In Rescue terms, he is technically a Senior. Since Lhasas can easily live to be 13-15 years old, he is really only middle aged. His name sake certainly shows just what those middle aged guys can do. Sorry Cowboy fans! Brett is a very quiet, easy, independent dog who just likes to lay near his person. He has some arthritis in one hip and leg from an old injury, but he takes it in stride, just like the real Brett Favre. Can you open your heart and home to a sweet boy like Brett?

Good-bye 2009.....and Looking Forward to a Great 2010
Submitted by cbarekman on Fri, 01/01/2010 - 02:41We can't say we are sad to see 2009 end. It has been a tough year for pets, and for Rescues alike. From numerous large puppy mill seizures to abandoned and surrendered family pets, many pets have suffered this past year. The good news is that we have seen an outpouring of generosity from the community and from the many animal rescue volunteers across the DFW Metroplex and beyond, in addition to making significant inroads to stopping puppy mills. DFW Tzus and More would like to thank the many generous people who donated both time and money this past year, and of course, those wonderful people who have adopted our dogs. We could not have successfully saved so many little fluffy dogs without YOU!
Much Needed Funds Earned to Help Homeless Shih Tzu and Lhasas
Submitted by cbarekman on Sun, 11/22/2009 - 23:20Thanks to a lot of hard work by many DFWTAMR volunteers, especially Rita and Missie, our rummage sales were a success! A big thanks to the volunteers who contributed items, priced, set up, and worked the sales. The two sales brought in several hundred dollars which will be used towards the medical needs of our homeless dogs. More funds are still needed though, as the dogs continue to stream into our program! If you would like to make a contribution towards our veterinary bills, please click on our DONATE button on our make a difference page.
